Agrippa

63 - 12 BCE

Lifelong friend of Augustus, Agrippa was also his most able and trustworthy general. In return for his friendship Augustus had him marry his only daughter, Julia, to him with the intention of promoting him to the top post upon Augustus's own death. Augustus, however, would witness his death shortly afterwards and go on to survive him another 25 years!
